Cat maintenance-free UPS batteries use AGM technology for high-rate, short-term discharges to provide near instantaneous emergency power when the main power fails. Electronics within a UPS tells it when it needs to work and kicks in alternate power as needed, which eliminates glitches or surges and allows time to safely shut down main systems if and when needed.
