Cat® Auxiliary Battery is a low-voltage battery that provides power to the accessories and electronics that require constant or low power, such as lights, audio, and controls. The auxiliary battery is also known as the second battery or the accessory battery. The auxiliary battery is usually a different type of battery than the main battery. The main battery is typically a lithium-ion battery that has high energy density, high power density, and long cycle life. The auxiliary battery is typically an Absorbed Glass Material (AGM) or a valve-regulated lead acid (VRLA) battery that has low self-discharge, high durability, and deep cycling capability.
The auxiliary battery is charged by the main battery using an inverter or converter that converts the high voltage from the main battery to the low voltage required by the auxiliary battery. The auxiliary battery can also provide backup power in case of a fault or failure in the main battery or the charging system. The auxiliary battery has a longer lifespan than the main battery because it is subjected to less stress and degradation. However, when the auxiliary battery reaches the end of its useful life, it can be disposed of, recycled, or reused for other applications, such as stationary energy storage.
Application:
Cat® Auxiliary Batteries are used as a power source in Cat® Machines. Cat® Components can operate in heavy-duty applications such as severe vibration, shock, extreme operating temperature ranges, thermal cycle, thermal shock, humidity, corrosion, and excessive dust. Consult your owner's manual or contact your local Cat® Dealer for more information.
