Description:
A Fan Drive is a mechanical device located in the engine that controls the operation of the cooling fan. The drive consists of a bearing assembly pulley and a clutch that connects the engine to the fan. The pulley is driven by the engine, while the clutch engages and disengages the fan from the pulley. The bearing assembly supports the pulley and allows it to rotate freely. When the engine reaches a certain temperature, the fan drive engages the fan, which pulls air through the radiator and over the engine to cool it down. When the engine cools to a certain temperature, the fan drive disengages the fan to reduce drag on the engine, which improves fuel efficiency.
Attributes:
• Designed to operate at variable speeds.
• Parts are corrosion resistant and free of burrs.
• Equipped with temperature control sensors that regulate the speed of the fan based on the temperature of the engine.
Applications:
A Fan Drive is responsible for ensuring that the engine operates at a safe temperature by controlling the amount of air that passes over the radiator and engine and it is used in Cat C4.4, C7.1 Engine - Industrial, C4.4 Engine - Machine, 316F L, 318F, 312E, 313F, 315F Lcr Excavator, and 2384D, 559D, 579D, 2384C, and 2484C Forest Products.
