The Camshaft Drive Gear helps in controlling the opening and closing of the engine's valves. It is responsible for converting the rotational motion of the camshaft into the linear motion required to actuate the valves. The camshaft gear is mounted on the end of the camshaft, usually secured by a keyway or spline connection. It rotates at half the speed of the crankshaft, as the camshaft completes one revolution for every two revolutions of the crankshaft.
