A Diesel Exhaust Fluid Module is designed to reduce harmful nitrogen oxide emissions generated by the Diesel engine. It works by injecting a precisely metered amount of Diesel Exhaust Fluid, a urea-based solution, into the exhaust stream. When the Diesel Exhaust Fluid comes into contact with the hot Exhaust gases in the selective catalytic reduction unit, it chemically reacts to convert the nitrogen oxide into harmless nitrogen and water vapor.
