When energized, the coil generates a magnetic field that moves the plunger, regulating hydraulic pressure within the valve body. The function is to control the flow of hydraulic fluid, allowing the lockup clutch to engage or disengage. During high-speed cruising, it locks the torque converter, eliminating slippage and boosting efficiency. In low-speed situations, it disengages to maintain smooth power delivery and prevent stalling.
